Guess where we are...

Tree house meet motorbike

Give a boy a house and what does he do - he drives his motorbike through it...

The dog is moulting a the moment plus we've had our first bout of proper autumnal weather so the carpet's filthy (it was cleaned the next day) and there's no point putting toys away in the midst of a play session so this is pretty normal for the state of our dining room. I hate seeing perfect houses as they make me feel so lame so I have no shame in showing quite what a mess ours is on a regular basis.

Rainbows

Sometimes I put a toy away for a while and then it's rediscovered again. I did this by accident with our rainbow as it ended up buried under a pile of other things.

Sometimes it's good to settle down to a bit of reading...

With a snack of course.

I made some brownies but didn't get to eat any of them (they were a present for our fantastic neighbours who've been feeding us curry).

And the boys both got new shoes...

Bumps

The boy's bump.

He went to the park last night and was jumping off some logs and it went a bit wrong. He's fine and it doesn't seem to hurt him it just looks dramatic.

My bump (at 16 weeks).

Watercolours

Today was a painting day. He loves it but he gets bored of putting paint on the paper pretty quickly and just wants to put on him and me...

We did some watercolours which worked really well on wet paper. I think I appreciated it more than he did though. And the colours mixed really well which is nicer than with the ELC paints.

Both Susan Striker and the Steiner things I've read suggest giving toddlers just one colour (and then progressing onto two) so that they get to enjoy that colour and don't spend all their time choosing but the boy does like his colours and wanted blue as well as the red and yellow. So out came a different batch of paint.

Not a great photo of the watercolour as the auto focus didn't like the soft edges very much.

Daily life

The bear is still young at heart (read foolish) but he's getting very grey on his chin.

The boy is loving his wooden tool box that we got at the NCT sale and being the modern man he is he plays with it whilst baby wearing.

And a little outing to get a few bits and bobs from the shop takes a long time when trains have to be driven...

And you have to weigh up which is the best toothbrush.

There are times I wish he was one of those children that sit limply in a buggy, content to watch the world go by. But he's not. He'd much rather be involved in life and wants to pick up and check out everything. It's hard work when you have 'things to do' but it teaches you to slow down and prioritise. And if the odd extra thing slips into the basket too sometimes well that's a small price to pay.

Dogzilla

Before....

After...

Does he look bothered?

The reverse of the trousers.
