Don't you just hate it when...

I'm aware that my intention to post daily has slipped already so I was looking for images today and trying to frame something normal and everyday but still see some art in it. I liked the colours in this grouping with the orange on the edges and all that turquoise (I didn't stage any of this just took it as it was). The colours are great but the image doesn't really move me.

As soon as Isaac saw the camera he wanted to play with it and instead of going for the on/off button as he used to he remembered where the button was that made the flash go off (and take a frame, although he doesn't care about that). Obviously he's not looking and framing the image but his scattergun and off-centre shots have a certain charm (although that's maybe just my Mum-eyes!). Excuse the nappies at the edge [blush].

So the moral of this is, not to over-think things but just snap away...

Arting About

Well today was a day of getting out and doing things - nothing very exciting but it was a lovely day so getting out of the house was a priority.

Since I had Isaac my handbag has got larger and larger and less and less interesting so as I was in and out all day and didn't need to have a spare nappy and change of clothes and everything else I decided to dig out a proper handbag. It's very girly and makes me smile. And surprisingly Isaac didn't seem to empty it like he does my other bags. Here's a close up of it in the winter sun.

I've been thinking for a while that I should take a camera with me when I go out and about. Partly it's a desire to record things so that we can talk about them later and partly it's that there are so many photo opportunities when you have a small child around. Today I finally managed it. It felt like I was doing my photography GCSE again. I was quite self-conscious about framing a picture and seeing beauty in the mundane. And all the time I had to have one eye on the toddler.

Our park is a beautiful place though - if a little run down in places - and the winter sun was lovely so I took loads of photos but mostly just, 'this is a pretty park' type ones. But in amongst everything else I saw some great shots. Whether I caught them or not was a different story (and we won't go into the many attempts to get a shot of a squirrel!).

I'd like to say that I then got creative with some paints as I really like this image.

And I should have taken a long shot of it to show the context. Modern art or vandalism? It's a bit of graffiti on the back of one of the signs. I like it though and I'm glad that if nothing else starting this blog has made me look for images like this.

There's giggling and tummy tickling in the background so a lovely end to a sunny January day :~)

Accidental Creativity.

I've been having trouble with my camera recently. Shots have been odd especially when using flash and I wondered if it needed new batteries, if it was dying or if Isaac had managed to break it somehow. I realised the other day though that the dial where you choose portrait, action, night shot etc had moved (whether by accident or child I don't know) and it was set on the sunset setting causing the problems I'd had.

A happy byproduct of this though were a few photos that looked like they've been photoshopped. Firstly one of the bear:

And then one of Isaac. Disco-tastic!

I'm still getting to grips with how to do the blog and what I want to use it for but I figure starting it is the main thing and it'll evolve to be what it will be.

Well I'm not really sure what I'm doing with this blog but one of things I want to do is to be a little more creative. And sometimes creativity is accidental. Today Isaac took his first photos - he was playing with the camera which happened to be pointing at things. And I love this photo that he took.

I still haven't worked out how to order posts and photos etc so need to have a play around. I'm a little distracted by some more creativity going on here which involves drums and duck calls so I'll just post this pic which I love from this afternoon.
