Hidden Treasures

Wow it's Friday already. How did that happen?

The boy loves the carry cot on the buggy and will go and lie in it and pull the hood up even though he's way too big for it. He also likes lying on the changing mat and pretending to cry like Isabel. The added benefit of the carry cot is that it's a nice platform for reaching things that had been put out of reach - like the marble jar.

Much fun was had in emptying it. Sorting marbles by size. But most of all filling a bowl and then emptying it at the bottom of the stairs (I swear he's not been watching Home Alone, honest).

In the marble jar was a little tub of frankincense that Matthew brought back from Oman. To Isaac they're just little stones but the smell is lovely and he had great fun exploring and discovering the different textures in his fingers and in his mouth (the boy puts everything in his mouth as is the way of children at that age).

Sunny Weekend

The weather's been lovely here for the last week or so and we took advantage of it by having a little picnic in the park.

It's tiring being a baby...

The tree is coming along nicely.

And they boy has discovered the eucalyptus tree.

Daddy made a robot - he's very proud of it. The boy loves Harry and the Robots and when the dog coughed up a biscuit the other day this small voice said, "hello Finny, have you got a cough? BLAAAST".

The end of the week

It feels like it's been a long one. We've been a lot busier this week - partly the good weather, partly everything starting again after the easter holidays and partly that I'm feeling better. Boy am I tired now though!

Yesterday we went to see the fine lady and the boy could have stayed there all day. Not only is it a great climbing place it's also at a busy roundabout and so a great place for watching lorries, buses and vehicular transport of all kinds.

The statue is very tall - and yet somehow she has a very shiny nipple...

On lorry watch.

One of the latest obsessions is working out signs and symbols and letters are a part of this (we're a long way off reading, he's bright but he's not that bright). We had to go the whole way round the plinth and do the whole rhyme letter by letter.

Today was just the local park (twice at latest count) and the garden.

The boy had adopted the climbing frame as vantage point and spends a good amount of his play time taking in the world from up high.

The rest of the time he's just going higher...

The girl has been unsettled today - I suspect it's all that growing. She's now a chunking 5kg (11lbs) and without slings I don't know how I'd get through the day as she's too long and floppy to hold in one hand.

The bear loves the sun. And loves it even more that he's getting lots of company in the garden.

We had great home made pizza for tea. This has been the first week I've done a meal plan and stuck to it.

Buds in the desert.

The tree is growing.

The boy has been taking lessons in photography.

And there's been a lot of playing in 'the desert'.

Learning from the internet

I'm doing a lot of reading blogs at the moment as I'm spending a lot of time sitting feeding Isabel (and Isaac). Yesterday I found Lovein the Mommyhood and a post from one of their sponsors which had some tips on taking photos of children. So today I took some of the advice.

The girl wore her lovely trouser - she's getting so big she's already in some 3-6 month clothes, especially when she's got a cloth bum.

The boy got a couple of new hats...

About a week after Isabel was born we finally planted the apple tree that I ordered back in January. It's starting to bud...
