Snot girl is now mostly cough girl so we managed to get out to a very cold playground and work out what could be done in gloves and what needed bare hands. We managed about and hour and half there before Isabel had had enough and we needed to give her a warm car to sleep in. We got home to a glow stick delivery so most of the afternoon was spent in the dark playing with them.

We popped into Oxford yesterday to see our lovely friend Rosie who is in hospital at the moment. In the foyer was this huge dragon that the kids had a lovely time riding on.
Then we went in search of lunch and stopped off at Atomic Pizza on the Cowley Road. The kids were a little unsure of some of the figures on display but soon were having fun trying to find Thunderbirds and saying hello to the Simpsons. Isabel wanted to take care of Maggie and was very concerned that she wasn't getting milk and didn't have enough cuddles. Only the lure of jelly and ice cream got her back to the table.

Often when taking photos the first shot is the one that works best - the one that's not posed and just a moment caught in time. That alchemy of light in time.
We had fun with lanterns tonight (one of us also got hot wax on bare skin and that bit was less fun for small boy). There's a magic about children by fire light or candle light. They understand the thrill and danger of it and see the life in the flame.
The idea for this came off something I saw on Pinterest but I can't find the link now. I tried taping rubbish bags together but they didn't work very well so I bought some cheap plastic dust sheets and used one of those folded in half and taped up the sides - if we had bigger rooms I'd have used two and made a huge one but then you would need more fans as this was hard to keep inflated as it was.
Safety stuff - it's essentially a big plastic bag that you're putting your kids in. Don't leave them unattended and keep the air going. Actually the most dangerous thing with ours was when the kids pushed against the sides it pulled the fan over.
They had a lot of fun and we will definitely do it again!

We had friends round on Monday who brought cakes - Isabel was amazed by a cream meringue with strawberries on it. She couldn't believe that she could eat all of it including the basket bit on the bottom. She had a lovely time! And yes she ate all of it save for a small bit at the end that the dog somehow got hold of when she was distracted.
We have some stilts - so far I'm the only one who can do them unaided but both kids love trying them. Isaac's cast is now off but we have to be extra careful for the next few weeks as the bones still need time to heal fully. He's a bit sore again now the support of the cast has gone but he's slowly getting used to using his hand properly again.
I had a couple of boxes of nappies delivered and unpacked them downstairs - when I came back the boxes were full again... Both lids could close, just for the record.
After two years with no tv we've introduced it again. There are a lot of DVD watched and the computer is taking a bit of a bashing from all the use so it makes more sense to have the tv out again. Isaac is remote control guarder. The room will need a bit of a move round again to make it work properly. The drum kit has gone under Isaac's bed for now - we'll see if it stays or not.
The unit was bought from our local recycling centre - a great big warehouse with old furniture and bits and bobs - it cost £5 and just the right sort of thing for out alcoves.
