Often when taking photos the first shot is the one that works best - the one that's not posed and just a moment caught in time. That alchemy of light in time.
We had fun with lanterns tonight (one of us also got hot wax on bare skin and that bit was less fun for small boy). There's a magic about children by fire light or candle light. They understand the thrill and danger of it and see the life in the flame.
