Space and sparkles.

We went to the National Space Centre at the weekend and then stayed overnight in a hotel nearby. The centre is good fun and you can convert your ticket to a season pass so if we go again it will be free. There was plenty for the kids to do although I think Isabel had the most fun making up her own games in the 1960s house.

Erm... where am I supposed to sleep?

The weather has been lovely this week with some actual sunshine!

And Isabel has done her usual thing of painting herself more than the paper. She's spent most of the week in various pink dressing up costumes and her crown.

Warning! This post contains mud.

Sometimes I don't know which is worse for finding mud and water, the dog or the kids. Either way they were all very happy when we went to a sunny but muddy park. My plan was that the kids could play while I threw the ball for the dog but the kids were straight in the big puddles and mud and had a great time before they even looked at the play equipment. Thankfully it was reasonably warm so they were ok in their wet and muddy clothes.

Oh so cold.

Last weekend we had a lovely lunch with friends and then stopped off at a park on the way home. It was so cold. The wind was biting and bleak. The kids really really wanted to play though. Isabel is in that threenager stage of being very definite about life and especially in what she will and won't wear. She had cropped trousers on, no socks and a thin coat. I managed to put another thin coat over the top after a while as even she admitted she was cold but even so it wasn't much to stave off the wind.

Isaac thankfully has gone through the no clothes stage and will wear winter coats although he's just grown and now his coat doesn't fit him. 3/4 sleeves are all the rage, no?

The joy of slings. I had this wrapped round me (and was very glad of the extra warmth) but had to give it up when she wanted to be a baby in the swing.

Fun with cardboard.

Any time we get a big cardboard box I pack it flat and stick it behind the sofa. I thought it was a secret stash but Isaac found it. So we built a space rocket amongst other things.

I had to make them both wings (look at the state of that mirror!).

I rarely carry Isabel these days but she wanted to come up and we had a lovely short carry. She's heavy!

Sensory play. AKA helping refill the dog food box.

Isaac has learnt to jump on his scooter and he's always on the look out for other ways to do tricks or make it more likely he'll get hurt as I see it. He spent a good 15 minutes running along the sleepers and then jumping onto his scooter before starting all over again. He was only happy if he planted his feet in exactly the right spot.

Thankfully Isabel just used her scooter to balance on the sleeper.
