Sock Monkey

We've been doing a lot of nothing just recently but there's always time for a cup of tea...

A bit of train building - complete with traffic jam...

And major incident aka the big crash!).

Time for a bit of football whilst doll-carrying.

And then "mummy made Isaac a special monkey". It was supposed to be for one of his Christmas presents but he saw it part made and then kept asking for his monkey so he's had it already. There's a sock monkey tutorial here and this one was made with some knee length socks so has extra long legs and tail.

He's already watched some rugby...

Been generally flung around...

And needed a minor repair.

It's a hard life being a dog! This is him under the table while we had dinner. It was just too much effort to stay upright.

Day out with Daddy

The boy has been on two outings this week but the camera only went on one of them. They got the train to Leamington and went to the park and for a milkshake and then got the train back. Lots of fun was had!

Chasing squirrels

We had a lovely time in the park the other day.

The trees looked lovely (we've since has storms and the trees now look bare).

The squirrel allowed small boy to chase it round the tree for a good while...

Before taking off...

And going up a different tree...

where it had a nut.

Puddles are for splashing in and sailing leaves in.

Boy in a bag and rainbow overload.

Sometimes the best fun is with the simplest things...

A big paper sack provides fun for both boy and bear (although then persuading the bear not to play with it whilst the boy is in it took a bit of doing...). Please excuse the Superboy pants! He loves wearing pants and isn't fussy whether they're on the inside or outside.

I've had some bits of ribbon for a while that Isaac plays with but inspired by a thread elsewhere I bought some more rainbow ribbon. You can then tie them to a wooden spoon but we have a recorder cleaner hanging around which lends itself well to having ribbons threaded through it. At some point I'll stitch them on instead of using a big ugly knot but for now it works really well. The boy loves twirling round and getting dizzy and a rainbow wand just adds to the fun!

Slowly catching up

We have been with snot for the last week so not been up to much and not getting much sleep. We're slowly making our way back into the world and trying to catch up on life.

Toddlers can be funny eaters, mine likes to eat very healthy crackers with lots of seeds on them. Preferably whilst sitting on the table of course...

The bump is getting bigger and more active (well she's probably always been active but I'm now feeling it in more places.

I have a pair of my Gran's old shoes that I keep as a memento. The boy has adopted them and likes nothing more than to wander around the house in heels. One day he'll thank me for posting these pictures on the internet for all to see.... honest!

We don't have a Montessori sensory box with spices and things in for him to smell. We just have the spice rack in the kitchen and he helps himself! One of these days he's going to end up yellow but so far he just takes the lids off and smells.

It was Jake's 10th birthday on Sunday and I made some brownies to take round there and share - I made double what I needed so we had some at home too!
