Full steam ahead

We took a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway this morning. It was rainy, cold and we'd had a few hail storms so a day where we could do something sort of indoors was on the cards. I grew up near Howarth and we went on the steam trains from there fairly often as well as trips to other steam railways as family days out. I love the look of steam trains and the design that goes along with everything steam.

One stop was the perfect length of train ride for out little ones so we drove to Grosmont to begin with and then got the train to Goathland. The station at Grosmont has lots of trains so was a good place to hang out before and afterwards. I think there are tie-ins to Harry Potter and Heartbeat at both places but they went rather over our heads.

On the way back we popped to the fantastic playground by the Whitby Museum. Neither child wanted to leave but both adults were rather cold with the wind that was whipping around the place.

  1. Looks like a lovely trip out. We have the Bluebell Railway down here, I really must take Theakston one day.
