When we were in the woods the other day there was a woven ball hanging from one of the trees. We played with it a bit and then left it there. Today when we went they'd mowed all the wild flower meadows (which was a bit sad but is part of the management of the woods) and there in the middle of the field was the woven ball so it came with us for a walk in the woods.
And then I looked up and saw this...
I love sculpture walks but they can so often feel contrived and the pieces have no bearing to their environment. Whoever has made this and hung it (it was hung with some string so it was a deliberate act) has an understanding of the environment but it also feels playful and spontaneous. It really made me smile.
We did our bit of placing when we put the ball up a tree. It'll be interesting to see if it's still there or if it moves around next time we go.
The woods were beginning to feel autumnal and it'll be lovely to see them change as the leaves fall. Today we found mushrooms.
Ladybirds.
And lovely lichen.
